Dear Student or Faculty Advisor,
Thank you for your interest in serving as an advisor to a student organization. Truman is comprised of almost 6,000 students that seek out organizations and activities to engage themselves in during their time here. As an advisor, you can make a difference in these organizations and the directions they take. College is certainly a time for students to grow as individuals, reaching new heights along the way. Student organizations provide an opportunity for students to interact with others, develop leadership skills, take on responsibility, and succeed in what they do. This handbook is intended to serve as a guide for you, the advisor, in your efforts to effectively be a part of the student organizations. We continually strive to construct a better Truman in everything we do here in the Center for Student Involvement. However, we cannot do this alone. With your assistance, we hope to be able to help build better organizations that allow students to actively pursue their interests in extra-curricular activities. Follow the links to the left for information and guidance that will assist you as an advisor. Begin with selecting the organization you wish to serve and work your way up to helping students put the finishing touches on that organization. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 785-4222 or E-mail at csi@truman.edu. You can also visit our website at csi.truman.edu or stop by our office which is located on the lower level of the Student Union. Once again, thank you for your interest in serving Truman as a student organization advisor. Sincerely, Robin Taylor Coordinator (Center for Student Involvement)
