At Truman, students get involved to enhance their out of class experiences. These students join organizations to fulfill this desire and these organizations function quite well. However, an advisor is needed for a number of reasons and can become an integral part of that organization. Advisors serve to assist student organizations in operating as an effective and efficient organization. An advisor can offer guidance and support to individuals and organizations. Because of a the turnover rate of students in organizations, advisors can offer the history of the organization along with past traditions. Serving as an advisor offers you the opportunity to have a positive influence on students and be a mentor to students. You can serve an organization that reflects one of your personal interests and also get to know students outside of your discipline or office. Being an co-advisor can also provide you the opportunity to meet other colleagues. Thank you for your commitment to enhancing the lives of students at Truman State University.
