Student employees are vital and critical to the Center for Student Involvement’s
daily operations. Our student employees assist the CSI professional staff in
providing exciting, valuable and quality out of classroom experiences through
organizations, leadership recognition, and campus wide programming. The professional
staff strives to help provide students with critical transferrable skills through
all our valuable work service experiences. *CSI has four main working groups which
are: Front Office, Organization Services, and Leadership. Please click the appropriate

- Front Office Assistant
Job Description: The First-year Activities Coordinating Team (FACT) Coordinator reports to the Program Advisor for Student Involvement.
The FACT Coordinator assists with the FACT staff selection process, spring and fall training sessions,
Get Involved sessions, and the coordination of the Truman Week evening activities program.
This may include preparation work during the summer session prior to Truman Week. The FACT
Coordinator must have been a FACT member the previous year and hold a 2.5 or better GPA.
The Coordinator will work closely with the Program Advisor for Student Involvement and the
CSI office staff. The Coordinator will also attend Truman Week meetings during the spring
and summer months to provide a student link with the committee regarding the evening activities
program.
Salary: The salary will be paid via scholarship hours; scholarship and institutional pay at
the current minimum wage rate per hour; or institutional pay only. Estimated hours are 40 hours
(total) during the spring semester, up to 20 hours (total) through the summer, and up to 90 hours
(total) during the few days of training prior to Truman Week and during Truman Week combined.
Some meals will be provided during part of training and Truman Week (dates set yearly; typically
held middle of August).
- Organization Services
Direct Supervisor: Program Advisor for CSI
Pay: Work-study or Scholarship hours
Hours: 4-10hrs/week
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Display a personal commitment to academic success
- Oversee the student organization registration process which includes but is not limited to maintaining a contact binder with current files for student organizations, performing regular updates to CSI databases, completing follow-up correspondence, maintaining adequate records within the CSI.
- Be a resource person for students, faculty and staff on all policies pertaining to student organizations. Includes but is not limited to the chartering process, on campus posting, conduct, organization registration and renewal, banner roster submission, fundraising, solicitation by outside vendors, CSI leadership/teambuilding resources, equipment, etc.
- Assist with any revisions of CSI printed resource materials such as student organization chartering packets, Student Organization Handbook, CSI promotional brochure, Advisor Handbook, etc.
- Assist with providing support services to organization advisors
- Assist with organization related programming, such as the coordination and implementation of the annual CSI Activities Fair
- Perform clerical work (basic to advance)
- Responds to student or staff in absence of Program Advisor
- Run campus errands as necessary
- Communicate with students, staff, and faculty
- Perform basic research
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A thorough working knowledge of all aspects relating to student organizations, including chartering, registration, privileges and responsibilities of chartered groups and their advisors.

- Web Development Internship
Purpose:
To provide an opportunity for a current undergraduate student to gain transferrable
web management experiences.
This internship provides students hands on opportunities to enhance their
web development skills and comfort level. Students selected for this position will
be able to further their understanding of course content and critically apply knowledge gained.
The University will benefit from:
- The increased publicity of the leadership, involvement, and service opportunities available to campus through Center for Student Involvement
- A greater student awareness of the programs and resources available
- The experiential application and marketable opportunities found within the highly selective, rigorous Truman curriculum
Duties and Responsibilities:

Eligibility
Open to all currently enrolled students in any major. A special consideration will
be given to Computer Science Majors with appropriate knowledge base. Student must be at
least sophomore level status and have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
Compensation
While this experience is a non credit baring internship, the student selected for
this position will be awarded a $600 per semester stipend. Students may combine the
stipend with scholarship hours (if available).
Time Requirements
Students are able to complete work requirements with a flexible semester, but
should expect to complete approximately 4 hours of work per week.
Supervision
The intern will be directly supervised by the Director of Student Involvement and
Campus Activities in the Center for Student Involvement. The Director will directly
oversee and direct the student’s work, and will conduct the overall evaluation of the
work experience. Students will be supervised and assessed based on learning objectives
developed and agreed upon by the intern and Director.

Homecoming Chairperson
- Provide overall vision, direction, and coordination of Truman's Homecoming celebration
- Responsible for representing the Homecoming Committee as the official representative at all public functions
- Facilitate Homecoming Committee planning meetings, set agendas, distribute meeting minutes
- Responsible for constructing meeting schedules and work schedules
- Responsible for delegating tasks to the Homecoming Committee members
- Responsible for facilitating positive relationships within the Homecoming Committee and addressing concerns that may arise among committee members
- Coordinate purchases with the Center for Student Involvement staff and Homecoming Treasurer within budgetary limits for all events/activities associated with Homecoming.
- Responsible for insuring that the Homecoming Committee operates within the guidelines established by the CSI and within regulations defined by the Student Code of Conduct.
- Responsible for meeting with the Homecoming Advisor(s) and Vice Chair on a weekly basis in order to update him or her on the progress of any event, as well as to discuss any concerns.
- Coordinate all philanthropic efforts in conjunction with the Community Liaisons
- Coordinate the distribution of thank you notes at the conclusion of Homecoming
- Coordinate general cleanup efforts after Homecoming week
- Oversee the overall Homecoming evaluation process
- Create and maintain a history/reference manual for future committee members
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of 2010 Homecoming Committee

contact person and communications liaison for student organization chairs
- Responsible for
reading and responding to each Homecoming e-mail in a professional and
accurate manner
- Recruit competing
and participating organizations during spring semester via heavy publicity

and CSI Advisors to select organizations for teams during spring semester
- Recruit individuals
to participate during fall semester
- Coordinate and
facilitate Homecoming Organization Chair meetings

for all Organization Chair meetings

Events Coordinator:
- Work under the
direction of the Homecoming Chair
- Determine final
schedule of events for Homecoming during spring semester, after open
discussion among all committee members, and under the direction of the
Chair
- Compile and distribute
all event details to the Chair and/or all committee members in a timely
manner
- Work with the
Chair to create sufficient informational material, support resources,
guidelines and forms for the organizations and individuals participating
and competing in the Homecoming events in order to insure successful,
safe and well-attended events
- Assist Chair with
reservations of all facilities and resources for all events
- Coordinate event
set up, event itself and event tear down-timelines will be required
- Coordinate return
of all rented / borrowed items immediately following each event
- Maintain good
communication of event information to all committee members in a timely
fashion
- Determine event
rules and disseminate to committee and all competing/participating students
The Events Coordinators must
work especially close with the Chair, Awards Coordinators, Publicity
Coordinators, and Homecoming Chairperson. Responsibilities for
Events Coordinators will be split as determined by the Homecoming Chair,
Advisors or through a mutual negotiation process.

Publicity Chair:
- Serve as the chairperson
of the Homecoming Publicity sub-committee
- Direct the Publicity
Coordinators and delegate tasks accordingly
- Coordinate all
philanthropic efforts in conjunction with the Community Liaisons

the Chair, Vice Chair and Community Liaison to coordinate Homecoming
publicity of all events via posters, flyers, newspaper ads, radio stations,
television, chalking, hand bills, websites, press releases, buttons,
etc.
- Coordinate the
on-line and printed version of the Homecoming Publicity Packet which
lists events and includes all event registration forms and policies
- Oversee incorporation
of the Homecoming theme into publicity and all promotional items
- Coordinate the
creation and distribution of all event programs and tickets
- Communicate with
the CSI webmaster to design, implement and maintain Homecoming website;
implement link to TruView and Master Calendar
- Work with the
Apparel Coordinator to implement a system to track inventory and sales
of promotional items such as apparel and tickets

contact with other committee chairs and assist as needed

relationships and communication with ITS, Media Services, etc.

and distribution of Homecoming apparel and other promotional items

Homecoming theme into publicity, apparel and promotional items

coordination of press releases about events and activities and forward
to the University Public Relations Office, and other Truman and Kirksville
media outlets
- Videotape or photograph
events such as Lip Sync and Coronation; duplicate and distribute copies

- Community Liason
Community Liaison:
- Serve as the designated
contact person and communications liaison to Truman Public Relations,
Truman Advancement office, other campus departments, faculty and staff,
and the Kirksville community
- Assist in the
coordination of the Homecoming campus wide master calendar to include
Homecoming events via the Advancement Office, Multicultural Affairs,
Residence Life, Athletics, the Center or International Education and
other University Departments
- Oversee the coordination
of press releases about events and activities and forward to the University
Public Relations Office, and other Truman and Kirksville media outlets
- Responsible for
coordination of philanthropic activities, including post-Homecoming
photo shoot and publicity
- Coordinate community
outreach and gathering of donations and/or prizes to be used during
Homecoming

The Community Liaison Coordinator

- Treasurer and Apparel Coordinator
Treasurer &
Apparel Coordinator:
- Incorporate the
Homecoming theme into apparel and promotional items
- Assist in the
coordination of the design, order specifications, tracking, sales and
distribution of Homecoming apparel and other promotional items
- Delegate/assign
tasks related to apparel orders and distribution to other Homecoming
members, especially publicity members.
- Coordinate all
preorder apparel sales and the distribution of all apparel sales
- Develop and maintain
a system to track and safeguard all incoming philanthropy monies, apparel
proceeds and merchandise
- Coordinate Homecoming
committee members to sell merchandise via various venues, including
any sales of excess merchandise after Homecoming Week
- CSI Advisors to
assist with budget maintenance and all expenditures
- CSI Advisors to
assist with apparel selection, purchasing and sales
The Treasurer/Apparel Coordinator
will work closely with CSI Advisors, all Homecoming Committee members,
especially the Publicity Committee, CSI Staff, student organization
chair representatives, and campus departments. Other tasks may

Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate the
student royalty selection process and King and Queen candidate election
process
- Coordinate the
Faculty Staff royalty selection and election process
- Coordinate the
guidelines and publicity for Homecoming Court

Coronation Ceremony
- Work closely with
the Events Coordinators
The Court Coordinator works
closely with the Events Coordinators, Publicity Coordinators, competing
organizations as well as the other members of the Committee.
- Points Coordinator
Points Coordinator:
Responsibilities include:
- Review the awards
process annually
- Coordinate the
points and awards process for the Homecoming competition and all Homecoming
events as determined by the Committee
- Effectively communicate
all points criteria to the Vice Chair to be passed along to the organizational
representatives
- Coordinate a daily
points update during Homecoming Week where all committee members review
points
- Coordinate the
ordering and distribution of all trophies, certificates and other awards
- Serve as a mediator
when conflicts arise in the award process (under the direction of the
Chair)
The Awards Coordinator works
closely with the Events Coordinators, competing organizations as well
as the other members of the Committee.

Secretary:
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as liaison
between Homecoming Committee and Homecoming Advisors
- Assist committee
as needed under the direction of Homecoming Chair and Advisors
- Assist with typing
meeting minutes for Committee Meetings and Organization Chair Meetings
- Compile all meeting
minutes and distribute to committee in a timely manner each week
- Coordinate distribution
of Org Chair meeting minutes in a timely manner-via web and email
- Serve as the Homecoming
Parade Liaison – attend meetings, update organizations and committee
as necessary
- Serve as the Homecoming
historian – compile documentation and photos for hard and soft copy
Homecoming album
- Coordinate photography
and film throughout Homecoming planning process and Homecoming week
- Assist with implementation
of surveys and evaluations during and following Homecoming week
- Coordinate collection
of binders from Homecoming Committee following Homecoming week
The Secretary will work especially
close with the Chair, Vice Chair and CSI Advisors. Secretary will
also work with all committee members, Parade coordinators and assist
with relaying information throughout campus.
*Majority of new employees to CSI begin as a Front Office Staff member.
Application Process
The CSI conducts one formal hiring session each academic year during the spring semester.
All interested applicants are encouraged to apply at that time. Priority will be given to
students seeking work-study and scholarship positions; however, there are a few, limited
positions where institutional hours will be available. Applications will be posted on the
Trupositions webpage as available. After a student has submitted an application, CSI professional
staff reviews all applications and select students to interview.
Once a student has been selected for employment, it is his/her responsibility to submit
an online iclearance found via the student’s TruView account. The CSI must obtain clearance
through the Payroll/Financial Aid Office before a student can begin work.
Types of Compensation
- Work-Study – Hours are awarded by Financial Aid. Number of hours varies per student.
- Scholarship Hours – Hours awarded by Financial Aid. Students must complete 60 hours per semester of work service to the University.
- Institutional – Compensation is based on current minimum wage rates.
