Golden Leadership Award

The Golden Leadership Award recognizes student leaders on Truman State University’s campus through their hard work and leadership skills. The award gives faculty, staff, supervisors, and students an opportunity to acknowledge student leaders. The Golden Leadership Award strives to honor those student leaders through a nomination, application, and selection process. This award also encourages other student leaders to aspire to new heights on campus.

Selection Criteria

The Truman Golden Leadership Award Selection Committee will evaluate four categories: (1) leadership and work experience, (2) campus involvement, (3) academic achievement, and (4) community involvement.

  • Leadership and Work Experience: The Selection Committee will examine the individual’s work and leadership experience on campus and the amount of time given to his/her work and leadership positions. The essay and recommendation forms will also be evaluated to provide insight to leadership and work experience.
  • Campus Involvement: The Selection Committee will evaluate the student’s involvement in University sponsored organizations through an examination of the amount of time and effort put into the organizations and the quality of their involvement. This will be based upon the student’s resume, essay and reference.
  • Academic Achievement: The Selection Committee will evaluate the individual’s performance as a student within the classroom. This can be based upon the recommendation provided by a professor and the individual’s grade point average.
  • Community Involvement: The Selection Committee will evaluate the individual’s community involvement based upon the amount of service and consistency of service given to the community. They will examine the quality of programs that the individual participates in and the amount of time the individual gives to the community through volunteer hours.

Nominations

Students, faculty, and staff can nominate student leaders on the Truman State University campus for the Golden Leadership Award. Nominations begin at the beginning of February and March. Use the online form here or pick up a paper copy in the CSI. Completed nomination forms are due to the Center for Student Involvement by 5:00pm on the last business day of that respective month.

The recipients will be announced at the Leadership Recognition Program Banquet on April 14, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the SUB Georgian Rooms.
