Admission
The
Admission Office is responsible for representing Truman State
University to prospective students. Activities include processing
admission applications, representing Truman at college fairs, high
school visits and coordinating special visit events. The Admission
Office advises the Student Ambassadors and S.T.A.R.s (Students To Assist
Recruitment). The Admission Office is located in McClain Hall 205. Phone

The
Graduate Office offers help to students wishing to apply to a Truman
graduate program, apply for a Graduate Teaching/Research Assistantship,
find information on graduate programs at Truman, begin enrollment in
500-600 level courses, complete application files, pick up graduate
school forms, submit the graduate application for graduation, and submit
completed theses for the Graduate Dean¹s approval and binding. The

Advancement
Office/Alumni Relations
The Advancement Office is
responsible for building greater awareness, understanding and
appreciation of the University among its publics through alumni
relations, public relations, and University fundraising. Alumni
relations efforts promote lifelong relationships between alumni and
their alma mater through a program of ongoing communications,
activities, and services to serve the interests of Truman's alumni
population. The University's alumni records are maintained by the
Advancement Office. The public relations side manages news and
information to raise awareness of the University. Some of the primary
public relations duties include developing news articles and press
releases, assisting with media interviews and press conferences, and
connecting media with University experts. The fundraising component of
the Advancement Office encourages private gifts to support the
University including contributions from individuals, corporations and
foundations. The Advancement Office plays a critical role in the
cultivation and stewardship of fundraising activities and serves as the
home base for the Truman State University Foundation. The Advancement

Assessment and Testing
The Office of Assessment and
Testing coordinates a university-wide program to evaluate student
learning. The office administers tests and surveys and prepares summary
analysis of the findings as part of a program of continual institutional
improvement. The office is in Violette Hall 1130. Phone 785-4140.
Business
Academic Advising Center
Within this office complex is an academic advisor who advises
pre-business and pre-accounting majors and declared business and
accounting majors. This advisor serves as a source of information
concerning university resources, procedures, and policies. The Center
assists students with setting goals, selecting courses, scheduling and
registering, exploring the business/ accounting programs, and
investigating career ideas. The

Business Office
The Business Office
provides students with information concerning account balances,
promissory notes, information about student health insurance,
Institutional and Workstudy paychecks, W-2s, and tuition and scholarship
appeal forms. Loan checks are distributed in this office and notary

Campus Planning
Office The Campus Planning Office is responsible for the coordination
of the major building and renovation projects from the initial planning
through construction completion. The office assists the Administration
in determining which projects are most essential to the mission of the
University. Once a project has been approved and budgeted, Campus
Planning consults with the designated contact to determine the program
requirements, needs and goals of the project. The architects and
engineers are then solicited by the office to design the project based
on the program. After approval of the design by the committee and
administration, the Campus Planning Office monitors the architects¹ and
engineers¹ work preparing the construction documents and supervising
the bidding procedures. During construction, the office is responsible
for insuring the University¹s interest in the project and coordinating
the contractors¹ interaction with the campus environment. The Campus

Cashier¹s
Window
Window hours are 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students can
pick up paychecks, cash personal checks or checks from parents for up to
$75, pick up loan checks, and purchase parking stickers and additional
Kohlenberg Lyceum tickets. The
Cashier's Window is located on the main floor of McClain Hall. Phone

Center for
International Education Abroad
The
Center for International Education Abroad Office promotes
international education by having access to more than 173 summer,
semester or year-long programs in 48 countries. A true Liberal Arts and
Science education at the dawn of the 21st century would not be complete
without an international experience. Six summer programs are offered by
Truman faculty members. The Center for International Education Abroad
will assist you in finding a program to fit your needs. To take

Commuter
College
The Commuter College provides campus contacts to first-time, full-time
freshman students not living in the residence halls, helping them thrive
both academically and socially. The Commuter College keeps students
informed about university events through e-mail. Academic programs are
provided specifically for commuter students throughout the year. On a
monthly basis, a luncheon is provided by the Commuter College which

Department of
Public Safety
The Department
of Public Safety is the law enforcement unit of the University
which protects the property and preserves the peace and good order on
the campus. The Department provides both emergency and non-emergency
assistance to the university community. Public Safety also houses the
central lost and found department at the University and has a resource
library on topics such as drugs and alcohol, sexual assault, and driving
while intoxicated. The Department also offers an escort service and
provides safekeeping for firearms brought to campus. The Department of
Public Safety building is located north of the Student Recreation

Financial Aid Office
The
Financial Aid Office is responsible for helping students receive
financial assistance. Loan applications, student need analysis packets,
and financial aid eligibility forms are available in this office, as
well as information concerning eligibility for work-study. Financial Aid

Truman Week
Program
The primary purpose of the Truman State University Truman Week is to
help incoming students in their personal and academic adjustment to
university life and enhance their academic success. Each student is
enrolled in a regular university semester class that begins one week
before other University classes. This enables the classes to include
some orientation and campus issues, as well as specific time for the
subject matter of the class. Questions regarding Truman Week can be

Governmental
Relations
The Governmental Relations Office serves as a liaison between the
University and the state and federal governments concerning legislation
affecting higher education, with special emphasis on appropriations on

Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs
The Office of Grants and Sponsored
Programs works with the administration, faculty and staff to seek
external funding for projects which promote the mission of the
University. Support frequently sought include funding for research,
conferences and seminars, equipment, publication, building and
renovation, seed money, and other special projects. The Office is

Human Resources
The Human Resources Office
receives employment applications for all levels of staff positions and
facilitates the various stages of the hiring process. The office
provides training for staff, maintains employee records, and coordinates

Media Services
Media Services, formerly known as The Instructional Technology Center,
provides a wide variety of audiovisual and computer-related
instructional services. These include audiovisual equipment loan and
production services. Currently enrolled students, who have no
outstanding fines or other restrictions, may reserve audiovisual
equipment for class or event use. For detailed information on what is
available and our loan guidelines, please contact our office. Currently
enrolled students may have academically-related color slides,
transparencies, or paper prints created from most
computer-generated files. Please contact our office for more information
on the cost, turn-around time, and other important factors for these

Information Technology Services
The
Information Technology Services
Office provides academic and administrative computing support to the
University community. All questions regarding computer-related problems

International
Student Office (ISO)
The presence of international students at Truman State
University fosters diversity on campus and in the community. The
International Student Office provides services to international students
before, during and after their study at Truman State University, helping
them maintain their legal status in the U.S. and succeed in the American
classroom. During the 2002-2003 academic year, the University
hosted 269 international students from over 50 countries. The ISO
aided these students in their adjustment into American culture through
the processes of recruitment, admissions, immigration counseling, and
tutoring. Numerous ISO events and programs serve to connect
international students with American students and members of the
Kirksville community. Global Links hosts bonfires, picnics and
other social events for the purpose of pairing international and
American students looking for friendship and shared cultural
understanding. International Friends provides a similar connection
for international students with Kirksville families. The ISO works
with International Club on two annual events. The International
Dinner, a tradition since 1941, showcases international entertainment
and clothing over a feast of traditional cuisine from around the globe.
International Week, a seven-day celebration of cultural diversity,
includes a flag parade and a variety of other festivities. For

Library
Pickler Memorial Library currently has a book and media collection
of over 500,000, augmented by subscriptions to approximately 1,800 print
journals and periodicals, 1.5 million microforms, and an increasing
number of electronic information resources. The library is also a
depository for U. S. documents. In addition to its strong on
campus collections, the library is a member of the MOBIUS library system
which allows students and faculty to easily borrow library materials
from over 60 Missouri academic institutions. More information on

McNair
Post-Baccalaureate Program
The purpose of the
McNair Program is to prepare eligible Truman students for doctoral
studies through involvement in research, mentoring, and other
activities. McNair is one of the TRIO programs funded by a grant
from the Federal Department of Education to support students from
disadvantaged backgrounds who have demonstrated strong academic
potential. The goal of McNair is to increase the number of
students from underrepresented segments of society who obtain doctoral
degrees. McNair meets the social, academic, and informational needs
associated with gaining entry into and completing doctoral programs.
McNair Scholars are normally matched with faculty mentors and receive
assistance in achieving their individual post-baccalaureate education
goals. Scholars participate in a pre-research internship during
their sophomore year, summer research internship during their junior
year, and graduate school placement during their senior year. The
Program also tracks participants' progress through the successful
completion of advanced degrees. For more information concerning

Military Science/ ROTC
Military
Science offers students a no obligation option in meeting core
curriculum requirements. The program offers introduction to officership
and development of leadership, which translates to improved
marketability in the civilian job force. Summer internships are
available. These internships offer: scholarship opportunities,
adventure, paid travel expenses, modest salary, and up to seven (7)
college credit hours. Other scholarships include; Guaranteed Reserve
Forces Duty (be a hometown Army Reserve or National Guard unit officer),
Jr. College Transfers, Veterans benefits(Green to Gold), and U.S. Army.

Physical Plant
The Physical Plant¹s staff includes a variety of positions including
grounds crew, custodians, plumbers, refrigeration technicians,
carpenters, welders, boiler plant operators, electricians, painters, and
bus operator. The Physical Plant can schedule your requests for many
special services as well as answer your questions about on-going
routines. Certain property may be loaned by the Physical Plant Office
for temporary campus use and a special responsibility form must be
signed prior to receiving any such items. Folding tables and folding
chairs are available only for University-related functions occurring on
campus for specified periods of time. These items are available on a
first-come, first-serve basis. To reserve these items or for more

Services
Printing Services produces printed material for students, faculty and
staff. Bulk printing and copies are available through this office. The

Public
Relations
In addition to publishing the campus newsletter, the Truman Today, the
Public Relations Office assists all members of the campus community in
publicizing their accomplishments and sends out deans lists and
graduation information. The Public Relations Office is located in

Publications
Publications
designs and produces camera-ready artwork for the printing needs of
the University. The Publications staff will help plan your project from
beginning to end. To use this service fill out a work order form in Kirk

Registrar¹s
Office
The Registrar's Office is
responsible for all student permanent academic records. Inquiries
concerning registration, grades, adding and dropping classes, academic
forms, and undergraduate graduation requirements and transcripts should
be directed to this office. In addition, the Veterans Representative
works with the Registrar¹s Office to process military educational

Residential
College Program
Personal engagement in liberal arts learning is the guiding objective of
the Residential College Program.
Full-time professional liberal arts advisors serve all freshmen and
undeclared students from their offices within all the residence halls;
they also provide general academic planning and support services (such
as skills and career workshops) for all resident students. Faculty who
have affiliated with the RCP as College Rectors or Faculty Fellows hold
office hours, teach selected courses there, and join students in some of
the RCP-sponsored activities in the residential colleges. For more

Sodexho
Marriott Services
The Sodexho Marriott Services office is located in the Student Union.
The program serves nutritional meals in three cafeterias to all students
in residence halls plus off-campus students who purchase meal plans.
Students may select a 15-meal option or the regular 20-meal plan per
week. Transferability is also available in the Mainstreet Market and
Tierra Del Sol Cantina in the Student Union at specific times. Bonus
Bucks also may be purchased in the food service office. They are
available in increments of $50.00 and $100.00. With a $50.00 purchase
you receive $5.74 in bonus and with a $100.00 purchase you receive
$13.48 in bonus. Bonus bucks can be used in the residence halls and
Mainstreet Market.
Sports
Information
The Sports Information office prepares and disseminates media
brochures, game programs, posters, schedule cards, and press releases
regarding the activities of all campus intercollegiate athletic teams.
It also maintains official statistics for the Truman teams and the
athletics web site (http://gobulldogs.truman.edu).
It does not have information concerning athletic facility hours of
operation or statistics and results of club or intramural teams. The

Orientation provides students with an overview of the local and campus
communities. Information sessions deal with a wide range of issues, from
how to open a local checking account to providing information on various
aspects of campus life. The program takes place prior to the first day
of classes and is an excellent opportunity for transfer students to meet
each other and share experiences. Questions regarding transfer student

University Bookstore
Guaranteeing the lowest textbook prices and buying your books back all
year long are just a few of the services offered by the
Truman State University Bookstore. Textbooks, school and office
supplies, Truman gifts and clothing, study aids and college reference
books, discounted software, and food and snacks are all available from
the Truman State University Bookstore. The Truman State University

University Career Center
The
Career Center provides assistant
to students throughout their years at Truman with self-assessment,
career exploration, internship and job search, and graduate school.
Services include an extensive career library, individual appointments,
workshops on a variety of career-related topics, resume, cover letter,
and graduate school statement assistance, and videotaped mock

Upward Bound
The purpose of the
Upward Bound program is to assist qualifying high school students in
building the skills and motivation necessary for postsecondary success.
During the academic year, program staff travel to schools to provide
services in after-school meetings; during the summer, students live on
the Truman campus for a six-week college simulation. The Upward Bound

Vice President
for Academic Affairs
The Vice President for Academic
Affairs (VPAA) is responsible for the University¹s academic
programs and faculty. The VPAA provides leadership and direction to the
academic Deans and serves as a liaison between the Deans and the
President concerning academic matters. The VPAA also supervises
Information Technology Services, develops and supervises the
implementation of the academic budget, directs and coordinates academic
planning, directs and is responsible for the implementation of the
University assessment program, and coordinates institutional testing
services. Other responsibilities include working closely with faculty
governing bodies responsible for the academic policies of the
University, classroom assignment, Faculty Development, and coordinating

Writing Center
The
Writing Center provides students of all writing levels with
assistance in improving their writing skills and techniques. There are
walk-in Writing Consultants available or appointments can be made for
more in-depth counseling. The Writing Center is also the place to sign
up for the Sophomore Writing Experience, a prerequisite for Composition
II, Junior Interdisciplinary Seminars, and graduation. The Writing
