Dear Truman Student,
I am pleased to welcome you to the Truman family. We are delighted that you have chosen to pursue your education here with us. Your college years offer numerous opportunities to grow and develop. As one of the finest educational institutions of its kind, Truman offers you an exceptional liberal arts and sciences education. Your academic advisor and faculty members are available to help you make well-informed decisions regarding your academic pursuits.
Achieving success in college, however, involves more than what happens in the classroom. There are a number of opportunities outside of the classroom that can make a positive contribution to your Truman experience. Becoming involved in student organizations, student government, residential college communities, and on-campus employment will enrich your college experience and help you apply the concepts and skills you are developing in the classroom. Involvement on campus will not only increase your enjoyment of the college experience but may also contribute to your achievement in the classroom.
Your association with other students will provide excellent learning opportunities. Getting to know others from different backgrounds will help you appreciate how diversity enriches our lives. Membership in our residential and campus community will help you understand the obligations of citizenship. You will also develop friendships that may be treasured for a lifetime.
We want you to feel part of our community. Truman is blessed with a number of dedicated faculty and staff who will do whatever they can to help you succeed in and enjoy your Truman experience. We look forward to sharing in your adventure in higher education at Truman State University.
Best Wishes,
Lou Ann Gilchrist
