In order to start up a new organization the group must have:
We understand that acquiring the initial six members may be difficult for those organizations without sufficient publicity. In these cases students are allowed to manually hand out flyers. (a.k.a. handbills) These handbills do not have to be approved and stamped by the CSI and may be distributed to anyone on campus but they may not be posted nor hung around campus.
In addition, chartering organizations my reserve a room under the CSI's name for purposes of hosting an informational meeting provided the organization gets explicit permission from a CSI "Organizational Services" team member before reserving the room. Room reservations are made through the Student Union office on the 3rd floor of the SUB.
Bear in mind that there are 20 chartering packets available per semester for interested parties to form new organizations or revive inactive ones. However, before a packet can be obtained a representative from the prospective organization must first make an appointment with one of our organization service staff to discuss the goals and aims of the new group. Appointments can be made in person at the CSI or via e-mail.
Finally, chartering packets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis so it is advised to act quickly in order to secure one.
